YAYER

My style is always evolving, I never have a set look.. one day I'm dressed up as a grunge freak the next day I'm dressed up as a Beatles groupie.. I love it. My style knows no home. Living in Nigeria I don't have access to the best of the best (Yayer, Nasty Gal, Forever 21 and so on) and I'm forced to dig out fabrics and get my tailor to make me an outfit. I am constantly resorted to online window shopping (this is very similar to going shopping with my mom at the mall).

I decided to go check out my good friend, YAYER's facebook, twitter, instagram.. any social platform you can think of. I absolutely love the store! It has such a mixture of different looks that fits me perfectly (though my wallet and the store aren't that good of friends) and so I thought to introduce you faithful readers to the store and make you fall endlessly in love like I did years ago.

The Great Gatsby

I think I might have attempted to read The Great Gatsby about 5 times and have never managed to get passed the first chapter or two, but after seeing the trailer for the movie I can't help but feel like I've been missing out. I've always been one to say that the book always ends up being better than the movie (The Notebook being the only exception) and so I feel like it is my duty to read the book no matter how difficult I find the vocabulary lol.

The book is set in Long Shore Island and NYC in the Summer of 1922 (the year of cloche hats, flapper dresses, and elegant beading). Think of hazy days on neatly cut grass, woman in long gowns hand in hand with men in well starched suits and you get The Great Gatsby.
I honestly can't wait for this movie to come out, I mean Carey Mulligan + Leonardo DiCaprio = match made in heaven. Not to mention Lana Del Rey + Beyonce + Florence Welch on the soundtrack.. could things get any better? I'm in-patiently waiting !

Instaday

Today was the Lagos Carnival and even though I stayed for all of 20 minutes taking pictures, I was impressed. Men and women dressed in colourful outfits with crazy head pieces and jewelry on their feet, people playing the drums- it was great. I was able to snag some of the photos my friends took from today.

Make sure to check back tomorrow for the OOTD post featuring my friends, Tami and Eniola and bits and pieces from the carnival !
